WOLFPACK — OPERATOR UNIT

Tsarina

Coldly elegant nuclear and arms-technology consultant who keeps the world's arsenal in a private ledger

FIELD HISTORY

She was born in Zhelezny Klyuch, a closed reactor town ringed by decommissioned silo fields, where the schools taught isotope half-lives the way other schools taught multiplication tables. Her father was a disarmament inspector; she grew up riding along on inventory runs through bunkers full of warheads that officially no longer existed. The lesson she took from childhood was precise and permanent: the most dangerous weapon in the world is the one that has fallen off a list.

When the town's reactor was finally shuttered, its inspection corps dissolved and its records were split between three ministries that stopped answering each other's mail. She watched four warheads go administratively missing in the paperwork — not stolen, simply unlisted — and spent six years of her life tracking them back onto a page. Two she found in a flooded bunker. One in a museum, mislabeled. The fourth is the reason she never fully sleeps.

Her private catalogue is called the Winter Inventory: every warhead, every exotic arms program, every proliferation rumor she has ever confirmed or buried, cross-indexed in a cipher only she reads. WOLFPACK consults her; she consults the Inventory. The geiger pendant at her throat was her father's field unit, rebuilt to whisper rather than click. When it speaks up in a quiet room, she goes very still, and everyone around her has learned to do the same.

INTERCEPTED COMMS

  • That device is a forty-kiloton entry that fell off three ledgers before it reached this island. I intend to write it back in.
  • You are asking how afraid you should be. The honest answer is: precisely as afraid as I am, which is considerable.
  • Fuze calls it artistry. I call it an uncatalogued yield with a wine list. We are not colleagues.
  • My pendant is whispering. Walk backwards, slowly, and do not touch the railing.
  • The world forgets its weapons the way it forgets its debts. I am the collector it sends afterwards.

PSYCH PROFILE

Drives: Closing the Winter Inventory — every entry accounted for, especially the fourth

Frictions: Theatrical demolition men who treat ordnance as art; Bacchus Fuze specifically

  • touches the geiger pendant once before answering any question about yield
  • refers to warheads as "entries" and finding one as "correcting the ledger"
  • drinks strong black tea gone cold; forgets it exists mid-briefing

KNOWN ASSOCIATES

  • FailsafeDeep mutual professional respect; the two calmest people on any channel
  • Bacchus FuzeContempt with total professional attention; she keeps a thick file on him
  • Colonel RourkeCO she trusts because he has never once asked her to round a number down
  • Lin YaoThe only person she'd trust to inherit the Winter Inventory
